Samenvatting

Some of the basic differences between highway and transit planning which should be recognized and accounted for if successful public transportation operations are to be achieved, are outlined in the first part. In the second part, several steps to be followed for achieving a meaningful evaluation of public transportation systems are discussed. It is pointed out that these steps are applicable at all levels of government.
