The four papers in this record report on research that examines the suitability of public transportation to the needs of the existing and potential user. The attractiveness of a bus rapid transit system that offers the possibility for a relatively high-speed movement of people on urban street networks without very high initial capital investment are discussed. Furthermore, a generalized model is presented that consists of sub-models of inspection and repair shops in order to provide much insight into the problems and complexities of bus maintenance operation.
