Recently, in national and international planning literature much attention has been paid to decision-making regarding big infrastructural projects. In this paper, the authors present these new insights, and in particular they formulate starting points for decision-making regarding the Schiphol airport and its immediate vicinity. The acquired insights are applied to decision-making regarding the Schiphol airport in relation with proposals that have been made for decision-making concerning big projects in the Netherlands.
