Samenvatting
A research project has been carried out by which planning and design principles for urban motorways which better consider environmental aspects were developed. At first, design principles of route location and intersections for the design speeds 50, 60, 70, 80 and 100 km/h were estab-lished. Then a utility-analysis was applied, using the criteria accessibility, flexibility, land consumption, traffic noise, air pollution, traffic safety, capacity, traffic attraction, construc-tion cost and fuel consumption.
