Samenvatting

An intersection under police (or manual) control can possibly result in less delay to traffic than when operating under automatic signal control. Observations were carried out at a busy Brisbane intersection under police control. It was found that motorists respected the long cycle times developed. The police performance was generally comparable with traffic signals.
