Samenvatting

This paper explores the political and economic implications of the rapid expansion in the use of Transport Telematics systems predicted by experts over the next twenty years. After examining the market for Transport Telematics (TT), the paper looks at the likely benefits of Transport Telematics, its impact on personal liberty, its public acceptability, and the need for public education. It touches on the possibility of using public/private financing schemes to finance the Transport Telematics infrastructure. The legal and institutional implications of a rapid expansion in the use of Transport Telematics are also examined. (A)
