In order to manage the heavy traffic flows between France, Germany, Italy and Spain in a sustainable way, particularly during the summer and winter holidays, four traffic administrations (Spain, France, Italy and Baden-Wurttemberg in Germany) started the SERTI Project at the end of 1995. Six activities (traffic management plans, pre-trip information, RDS-TMC services, improvement of TCC/TIC regarding European functionality, consequences of TELTEN2 and study of the installed infrastructure consistency) were identified after one year of studies. This article is related to the pre-trip information activity which will be progressing during 1997 in the SERTI project, which is funded between the above mentioned administrations and the EC, DGVII through the TEN-T budget line.
