Samenvatting

The authors analysed questionnaire data from a representative sample of 11,359 secondary school students to determine the prevalence of driving under the influence of alcohol and other drugs, the relationship between driving after drinking and driving after using other substances, and the social predictors of driving while intoxicated. Twenty percent reported having driven one or more times in the previous year after drinking "a good bit of alcohol," and 13 percent reported having driven while high on drugs. There was strong relationship between driving under the influence of alcohol and driving while high on other drugs, and between driving while intoxicated (by alcohol and other drugs), and students' alcohol consumption levels.
