Preventive medical examinations of drivers of a city transportation service.

This paper investigates medical records of bus and tram drivers employed with the Zagreb Public Transport Service, who had been examined in the Research Centre for Occupational Health, Traffic Medicine and Environmental Health in the period between 1980 and 1986. 356 Drivers (304 bus drivers and 52 tram drivers) had been examined. 265 drivers had been referred to a medical checkup prior to having their driving licence extended (a legal obligation), while 91 drivers (50 bus drivers and 41 tram drivers) had undergone medical examination because of a suspected health condition that could impair their driving aptitude.
