Samenvatting

Large-scale programs to encourage vehicle-infrastructure cooperation suchas VII in the United States and CVIS in Europe open the door to the availability of probe vehicle data of unprecedented richness for a variety of ITS applications. One of the primary challenges in developing these systemsis defining an architecture for data aggregation that promotes efficient data backhaul, access and management. This paper shows how moderate local data aggregation could dramatically reduce the volume of data to be handled, reducing the costs of system implementation and of accessing the data to support end-user applications.
