Samenvatting

With changes in the regulations in France in December 1991 and the obligation to provide child restraint systems up to age ten, car makers have undertaken a study on a rearward facing restraint system for infants up to nine monthts old. This concept available since January 1992 raises a question of acceptability by parents. This problem arises because it contradicts previous information and regulations in France. The rearward facing concept is new in France, and also, until 1991, the use of CRS in the front seat position was forbidden by French regulations. This scientific poster presentation discusses a certain reluctance by parents to put a child in the front seat, and describes a test by lending an infant restraint system to solve these problems.
