In order to evaluate traffic demand between zones in urban area, the estimation of trip distribution should be achieved. A new trip distribution technique called Entropy Maximization Method is presented in this paper. Probability of occurrence of an OD patterns and entropy of the trip distribution are discussed. In illustration of this technique, shopping trip distribution in Kyoto City and trip distributions between tramps on Hanshin Expressway are taken into considerations.
