Samenvatting
The internal carotid artery can be injured in its intracranical extradural portion in a basilar skull fracture. In case of a fractured wall of the sphenoid sinus, the bleeding can break through into the nasopharynx. The treatment of choice is the ligature of the internal carotid artery both in the neck and intracranially.
