An incentive program applicable for large- scale motivation of safety belt wearing was evaluated at two industries where it was possible to compare the belt use of blue- collar versus white- collar employees. Safety belt wearing increased first, but decreased substantially after the incentive program was withdrawn but only returned to the initial baseline for the blue- collar workers who had not received awareness sessions before.
