Pedestrian behaviour at locations with guardrails and with guidelines for guardrail location at pedestrian crossings are dealt with. According to the literature and the previous research work, it has been proved that a marked crossing is a safer spot to cross than at any other section of the street. It is concluded that safety guardrails help to decrease the pedestrian accident rate, that guardrails aid in guiding pedestrians to cross at a marked crossing and that guardrails have no negative effect on the occurrence of pedestrian accidents.
