Samenvatting

In the traffic technologies field, a great variety of information systems or other types of driver assistance devices are already available or are being designed in order to increase safety. However, it seems that those new technologies could involve some new problems in the human factors and social domain. One of the particular category is represented by Drivers and Vehicle Monitoring systems. This paper intends to illustrate, even if not exhaustively, different aspects involved potentially by some existing systems or which are planned to be developed, their implications for the drivers or for the social point of view. A prospective safety evaluation of a specific "Driver and Vehicle monitoring system" which was studied and planned to be developed by SAVE consortium in one of R&D European programs is in this context proposed. The paper could be also considered as a critical viewpoint concerning different approaches in solving problems of the new in-vehicle devices implications. (A*)
