Samenvatting
The main purpose of the study underlying this thesis was to describe the level of functioning of the survivors of major trauma in terms of functional health status and utility. A secondary aim was to investigate various independent predictors of the outcome in severely injured patients. In addition, we assessed the impact of major trauma at the individual and population levels in terms of the number of years of life lost and the number of years lived with disability.
