Protective measures against craniocervical injuries in sports will be discussed, pertinent anatomic and pathologic information will be presented in this report, followed by an analysis of the mechanics of protection. Prevention of lacerations and abrasions of the face, scalp, neck, and craniocervical fractures, protection against damage to brain, spinal cord, spinal nerves, cervical vascular and musculo-ligamentous structures are within the scope of this discussion
