The ITS Simulator is under development, which consists of road traffic simulator MELROSE, a vehicle dynamics simulator, a 3D-CG road environment simulator and an ITS multi-functional terminal, as an in-vehicle ITS HMI: Human Machine Interface in order to evaluate the effectiveness and performance of ITS. This simulator can simulate the interactions among persons, roads and vehicles under various road and traffic conditions in real-time. It is considered as a platform of design/evaluating tools and common language among the users, the administrators and the engineers. AHS: Advanced cruise-assist Highway Systems in this simulator as a prototype of Smartways is also being implemented, and evaluation of their effectiveness is being attempted. (A*)
