Samenvatting

In this manuscript the braking behaviour of over 2000 motorcyclists is analyzed according to the decisions required to make the correct manoeuvres in time. The conclusion reached is that the braking of a powered two-wheeler is too great for the rider to cope with. He is not in the position to realize all possible and necessary deceleration values. The results of this observation are special demands to the designers of motorcycle brakes. Motorcycle brakes should be more practical, that means, the limits of human acting should be taken into account.
