The four related papers in this study explore the relationships of driver psychology to the traffic flow. One paper describes the speed patterns of 20 drivers who were observed on a single lane road (See A 7122). The second paper describes the actions of 166 drivers who were involved in delays in freeway traffic (See A 6065). The third paper discusses driver motivation, expectancy and anticipations. (See B 877). The final paper presents the implications of the previous studies and related researches for traffic flow theory.
