Samenvatting

This paper describes the course of psychological treatment following road traffic offences in Austria. The usual criminal prosecution can be "diverted" to a course of psychological therapy sessions. Traffic accidents can both cause and be caused by psychological disorders or distortions and the therapy sessions are designed to combat these, by working through the factors leading up to the accident and concentrating on the area of self-control as important for good driving practice. A basic model of course types available is presented, with a hypothetical case study. For the covering abstract see ITRD E113725 (C 22328 CD-ROM).
