This paper describes a survey carried out as part of the TransPrice project from the European Commission, with aims to determine the acceptability of various demand management and mode-choice pricing measures. A questionnaire asked respondents in several European cities to evaluate general traffic demand management measures, including measures on parking, pricing, public transport, access restriction, and revenue allocation as part of a transport package. Traffic congestion and lack of parking space were perceived as the most pressing problems. Overall the information level of respondents on demand management options was low. Improvement measures received public support but restrictive measures such as pricing were less attractive. There was support for the concept of a pricing package where the revenue would provide better public transport and urban conditions. For the covering abstract see ITRD E113725 (C 22328 CD-ROM).
