Samenvatting
The function of public lighting and the relationship between public lighting and accidents are considered briefly as aspects of effective countermeasures. Research needs and recent developments in installation and operational described. Public lighting is an efficient accident countermeasure, but further research is needed in several aspects. It is expected that research will benefit considerably from international collaboration.
