Samenvatting

Some of the ingredients of success in urban public transportation ventures are identified and the observation is made that only through a combination of improved technology, adequate administrative mechanisms, large financial outlay and strong public commitment can the problem of urban mobility be addressed. Realistic assessments must be made of what modes will operate most effectively and be acceptable in a given setting and set of circumstances.
