Samenvatting
The material for the study consisted of 97 voluntary reported accidents involving cyclists wearing helmets. In return for the report, each broken cycling helmet was replaced with a new one. The accidents in question were studied in three different perspectives. The information examined was derived from interviews of the cyclists, analyses of the damaged helmets by a safety engineer, and assessments by a physician as to the kind of injuries that the wearers might have suffered had a cycling helmet not been worn.
