Traffic regulations constitute an element of the environment, abstract but essential, both in contents and in wording. A few examples dealing with French regulations are examined, with reference to regulations in other countries: (1) psychological influence of a technical regulation; (2) influence of the wording of the regulation; (3) influence of a restrictive regulation (speed limit); and (4) influence of regulation concerning vehicle accessories.
