Samenvatting

In the context of climate protection, noise reduction, and air quality control, consistent promotion of cycling is considered as suitable traffic planning approach. So far, quantified statements on the potential savings were only sporadically and mostly based on flat-rate approach; whereas they could contribute to environmental protection by effective increase in cycling traffic in the share of the (inner-city) transportation services. In this research project, the quantification of the impacts of measures at the level overall city is carried out by means of a macroscopic traffic model for stock situation ("case analysis"), and defined scenarios for structural and infrastructure-related developments ("prognosis") for three sample cities. Thernanalysis of the traffic impact made clear that a reduction in motor vehicle mileage is possible in all sample cities. The reduction in motor vehicle mileage is possible in all sample cities. The reduction in mileage in each city is largely dependent on the initial situation and on the conducted scenarios. The determined parameters (modal split, transport services in motorized traffic) and motor vehicle traffic volumes constitute the basis for the determination of potential changes in terms of environmental effects, which are determined with macroscopic models for road network-related or area-related mappings of greenhouse gas emissions (CO2), traffic noise and air pollution (PM10, PM2,5 and NO2). By comparing the case analysis with the prognosis, the potential environment-related changes were quantified for the three sample cities according to the used scenarios. (Author/publisher)
