Samenvatting

Seeking ways to improve fixed-time ramp-metering control strategies, a large number of traffic-responsive ramp control plans in terms of freeway service and delay are considered. The analysis yielded a set of plans that yield minimum delay for specified levels of freeway service. These plans are also compared to each other to yield a trade-off curve to assist in final selection of a metering plan.
