Double steel road safety barrier made by the Ministry of Transport, Public Works and Water Management of Netherlands. The plans and parts list for the test unit are presented in Appendices A and B respectively. The Ministry of Transport, Public Works and Water Management is solely and fully responsible for ensuring that the test unit installed and tested complies with the documents provided. The material was supplied on 13th May 2002 and the test took place on May 24th. Test Requirements: Test of a double steel road safety barrier, as acceptance test TB51 in compliance with European standards EN 1317- 1 and 2. The test was conducted in zone 3 which was specially equipped in accordance with the requirements of the Dutch Ministry in order to reconstruct the ground type most often encountered in the Netherlands (Polder). A ditch measuring 110 meters long, 1 meter wide and 1 meter deep was dug in zone 3. It was then filled in with 0/05 grade sand (see material characteristics in appendix C). During sand filling operations, a vibratory compactor was used to compact the sand every 0.30 m (installation drawing in appendix Q. The total length of the layout is 104.3 m. The ends of the barrier are lowered to ground level and connected to tie rods buried and anchored in the ground by 1,300 x 1,300 metal plates. The mounting height at the impact point is 0.79 m.
