Reaction time to the onset of low-intensity vibrotactile stimuli during the performance of an auditory-motor task.

The general aim of this investigation was to study the suitability of low-intensity vibrotactile stimuli as warning signals in mobility aids for the blind. It is concluded that a small number of low-intensity vibrotactile stimuli of the kind studied in the experiment is not effective as warning signals where rapid action is needed.
