This paper focused on introducing issues and lessons of real time traffic information dissemination from the public sector in Korea. An outstanding showcase for the traffic information system is the dedicated FM broadcasting service that covers most of capital region in Korea. It provides real time traffic information for 22 hours a day, and recently renovated its system. System upgrade was based on survey for users and system operators. In addition, vision for the further development of dedicated traffic information broadcasting system was suggested in the study. Main finding of the research was that the traffic information service by the conventional FM network should have capability for providing route specific information for the specific travelers in order to overcome the limit of broadcasting system.
