Samenvatting

The principle behind the "Wolfsburg Wave" is to supply drivers in specially equipped vehicles with a steady flow of information about their relative position with respect to the green period of the next traffic signal, so that they are able to pass through the intersection while the signal stage is still "green" by choosing the appropriate speed. This should eliminate or at least significantly reduce the number of stops caused by traffic signals, which in turn would lower fuel consumption and exhaust emissions.
