Reconsidering the automobile's future.

Samenvatting

A 1978 study estimated that by the year 2000 one person in eight throughout the world would own a car. Constraints such as unattainable levels of desired affluence, lack of foreign exchange, reasons of equity, congestion and pollution lead to the need for the reassessment of the future of the automobile. Competition for resources arises because cars require not only fuel but land as well. Although many steps have been taken to increase fuelefficiency, some countries, such as Sweden and Denmark have introduced Policies to discourage private motoring.
