In The Netherlands the repeated Time Budget Research (TBR) is used for analysis of travel behaviour. In this analysis a problem arises, because activities are recorded in 15 minute intervals. Trips with short duration are therefore underestimated. Using a methodology developed in 1983, it is possible to reconstruct these trips. In the first place, trips can be reconstructed using information of the locations where activities took place. In the second place, trips can be reconstructed based on the transition between two out of home activities. Comparing the TBR'75 with the TBR'90 shows that the number of reconstructed trips is decreasing and the number of notated trips is increasing. More general, the applied methodology improves the use of TBR for analysis of travel behaviour. (A)
