Samenvatting

It is well known that after a single flash has been presented to the dark-adapted eye, a period follows of absolute or relative inhibition, during which a second flash produces an electroretinographic response of diminished amplitude (r2) if compared with the amplitude (r1) produced by the first flash. Our purpose has been to measure the rate of recovery of the second b-wave (r2), the pre-adaptation (p.a.) source being extended stepwise in duration from 2 sec to several minutes. After the duration of exposure of the p.a. source, its brightness was introduced as a second variable.
