The potential of using recycled aggregate from crushed building demolition waste materials, hereafter referred as recycled aggregate, for constructing road base and/or sub base was investigated experimentally and the results reported in this paper. This investigation indicates that the recycled aggregate contained significant foreign particles and failed to meet the quality assurance requirements for acceptance as base and sub base materials for pavement construction. This investigation indicates that the CBR and UCS of recycled aggregate could be improved by over 150 percent and 100 percent respectively by treating it with around 5 percent lime. This study indicates that the accumulation of permanent strain in recycled aggregate (in 2000 cycles of loading) could be decreased by about 80 percent by treating it with either 5 percent lime or 2 percent cement. However, 2 percent and 3 percent cement would give 42 percent and 90 percent improvement in resilient modulus compared to the parent material whereas stabilizing it with lime could give a maximum improvement of about 30 percent only.
