The paper deals with the possibilities of using aggregates recycled on the basis of old worn-out concrete pavements for paving quality concrete. The total quantity of recyclable concrete pavements in the European Community (EC) is assessed at a minimum of 200 mio m squared representing an exploitation potential of 65 mio tonnes of coarse aggregates. Based on research funded by Danish and the EEC research and development programmes this paper describes the material properties which may be expected in the new concrete as well as the precautions which are to be observed if durable pavements shall be produced.
