Samenvatting

Transportation accounts for a large carbon footprint. There are unique opportunities to reduce CO2 emissions by moving vehicles steadily and continuously and minimize idling on highways. An Integrated Communications network being one can provide timely information to help travelers make better choices like selecting optimal routes or start times, changing to other means of transportation or even avoid a trip. A combination of Wireline and Wireless technology, and end applications such as Weather warning systems,CCTV systems, Information Displays, etc. can help streamline and automatehighway operations, address safety and security, and reduce congestion & CO2 emissions on the Highways.
