Samenvatting

In many cases it is possible to describe the things which we can see to be happening, terms of a system which is in interaction with its environment. Such interactions, and in particular those aspects of the interactions by which the system adapts itself or is adapted to the environment or to the modifications of that environment, are discussed here. If the modification in the system influences the environment then it is a real interaction. Usually the system reacts in such a way that the influence of the modification on the environment is as small as possible. That is the principle of feedback. The principle of feedback is applied to road traffic. In road traffic there are two mechanisms: the individual road user and the authority. Both mechanisms have a task. To manage or to control and on the other side to steer or to handle. Both mechanisms have both tasks. A philosophy on the interaction of those tasks in relation to driving is presented.
