Samenvatting

The paper compares the application of safety regulations governing passenger car construction in USA, Australia, and Sweden with the application of International regulations. It examines the requirements which must be satisfied before a regulation can be successful in achieving its object, and also the influence of the conditions under which the regulation is produced and enforced. Examples are given from published regulations to illustrate some of the difficulties to which they give rise.
