Samenvatting

The development of the crash deployed air cushion restraint system for use in passenger cars required many special programs over a number of years to be reasonably certain the cushions would perform as designed in the protection of both children and adults in a wide range of environmental exposures and accident situations. This paper will identify the major programs and summarize their findings. Details are not repeated in this paper, but will be found in referenced material. When significant, the results of continuing projects will be updated. (A)
