The scope of this document is to discuss the relation, if any, between engine performance of motor vehicles and traffic accident risk. It is asked whether high-performance cars are more frequently involved in accidents and if that is the case, why. High-performance is in the literature defined in different ways, for example high top speed, high acceleration, high power to weight ratio or low weight to power ratio. These definitions are usually highly correlated and are therefore interpreted similarly in this discussion. To answer the given question, a literature survey is conducted and the relevant papers/reports that were found are studied.
