Similarities and differences in transportation planning at national and state levels are discussed under several headings, and the mutual support of the two levels is noted briefly. Seven objectives of the National Transportation Study (NTS) are listed and the information to be generated by the 1974 NTS is described. Twelve uses of this information are discussed.
