Samenvatting

It was found that although all tyre factors are important in the operation of a vehicle on a wet pavement, the lack of tread depth on the rear tyres was of major importance in the accidents studied, particularly as regards the skidding accidents. A significant difference was found between friction values within one mile of the accident site and those at the site, but this was not thought to have a great effect on wet weather accidents.
