In deliberately ignoring - in the National Traffic and Transport plans - all the facets that unnecessarily conflict with proposals made by the Ministry of Transport and Public Works for high speed rail or maglev train links between the four major cities in the Randstad, the profitability of these proposals becomes 1.8 to 2.0 billion euros higher. In that way the profitability of the high speed rail link proposals will lie between 0.6 and 3.1 billion euros, depending on economic developments and spatial planning policy. By contrast, the yield emanating from the maglev train proposals remains negative. (Author/publisher)
