Samenvatting

We are on the eve of major changes in our transportation system: the first self-driving cars already drive on U.S. and European roads and through Skype, FaceTime and Facebook we can easily connect with friends and strangers around the world. How will these developments influence the way we travel 30 years from now? Will we be crossing our country using self-driving vehicles in great numbers? Or won’t we leave our home anymore because we can virtually participate on all desired activities? For the foresight study Super Intelligent Transport (Superintelligent Vervoer in Dutch), we have gained input from over one hundred enthusiastic stakeholders from industry, government and knowledge institutions to answer the questions above. This has led to the final publication: Het vervoer van morgen begint vandaag (The transport of tomorrow starts today in English). This publication includes three transport concepts for how we can move around about 30 years from now. It also contains a glimpse into how freight could be transported towards the final consumer. How will these transportation concepts influence our society? What opportunities do they offer? What is needed to seize those opportunities? Let the images of the future inspire you and see what we can (and should) do in order to seize the opportunities that new ways of mobility have to offer. The future of transportation starts today!
