This report presents information on road crashes which occurred in Western Australia in 2002. There were 36,378 police reported road crashes involving 68,709 vehicles, which resulted in 10,705 casualties. Of these crashes, 82% occurred in the metropolitan area and 18% occurred in rural areas. Historical information is presented along with information on road user groups, alcohol and drugs, speed, restraint use, helmet use, crash types, the road environment, temporal factors, vehicle types and hospitalisations.
