Samenvatting
This report provides a statistical summary of reported road crashes in Western Australia for the year 1996. Trends in raod crashes and casualties are examined by road user group, gender, and age groups. Several contributory factors to raod crashes are also examined. Fatal and hospitalisation crashes represented only 6% of all reported crashes in 1996, but accounted for 41,5% of the costs of road crashes to the community. Alcohol, speed, fatigue and restraint wearing were all contributors to the incidence and/or severity of crashes. (A)
