Samenvatting

This study was designed as a pilot study to determine the feasibility of one method of measuring the reporting level of accidents. The method consisted of searching the file of police accident reports maintained by the Division of Highways to determine how many of the accidents involving the Division's vehicles were reported. The Division's Safety Department maintains a separate file of employee reports for all accidents involving their vehicles. Adequate and accurate techniques were developed which made this method entirely feasible. The pilot study was then expanded to determine tentative reporting level values. Figure I is a summary of the reporting level findings. The study used 438 reports of accidents to Division of Highways vehicles on the State Highway System.
